THE LORD IS A MAN OF WAR

THE LORD IS A MAN OF WAR
Anglican Morning Devotion for 10 august 2021 Anno Domini

Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. 2The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. 3The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name. 4Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea. 5The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone. 6Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.” – Song of Moses
(Exodus 3:1-6; all scripture quoted is from the King James Version)

The power of the Lord throughout the Bible is one of masculine strength. The man of God should not waver in strength or loyalty, but bear his sword for righteousness. It is true that the “Lord is a Man of War,’ but through the means of warfare comes a great and lasting peace. The woman, being the fairer sex, is an ameliorating influence on the passions of man and family. Her hearth is warm with love and demonstrates the very purpose for which men wage war in protection of the home. But the greater battle is for the ‘home’ of the Church. All legitimate rights descend from God and never from the secular arm. We have heard often the quote of David in Psalms: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.” (Psalms 33:12) What does this mean? It means the nation whose laws are in conformity to the Moral Law of God and to whom the nation pays homage.

I have heard men claim that America is not a Christian nation. That may be true in our modern day as we have turned away from the Fountain of Living Waters; however, in spite of our faults, America was guided by Divine Providence for the first two hundred years of her existence. Today, we are confused and walk as drunken men in our spiritual stupor. We have forgotten that Almighty Power that established us as a nation more greatly blessed than any other on earth. Our young men do not know if they are male or female, or something in between. Our young women have forgotten their roles as mothers and guardians of the hearth. Many of our young women believe they are males. Drugs proliferate among our young and old. The Ten Commandments are forbidden to be posted on the walls of our schools while every degrading and pornographic artform is held in the highest esteem. “As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)

It was the Lord, as a Man of War, that both followed and led the Children of Israel from bondage in Egypt. He was a Pillar of Cloud by Day and a Pillar of Fire by Night who both preceded and followed the Children. It was from that Pillar of Cloud that the Lord looked out an destroyed the armies of Pharaoh. “And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. 24And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, 25And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.” (Exodus 14:23-25) The victory always belongs to the Lord, yet, He allows His people to wage righteous war for His own glory when the wicked arise.

David was a mere lad when he went out to face Goliath behind whom were arrayed in battleline the entire armies of the Philistines. Armed only with a sling and five smooth stones, David triumphed over Goliath and sent the entire armies of the Philistines in headlong retreat. It was not David that the Philistines feared, but the God of David who gave such victory to a small lad over a nine foot, well-armed, giant.

As the feminization of our young men continues, and they become our only military line of defense in future, how secure do you believe our Republic will be. Will an army composed of such sexually confused fellows be able to stand in battle as did the men of Washington, or of Crocket, Lee, McClelland, Alvin York, or an Audy Murphy? Have we gone far to afield in measuring up to God’s Creative design for mankind? Have we called good, bad; and bad, good? YES! We are reaping the tares of the sowing of the enemy at every level of our culture. The only answer is to turn to God in earnest prayer and repent of all our many sins.
