Today was The First Sunday after Trinity, the first real Green Sunday and the beginning of the Endless Green Season.

Fathers Day
Today we prayed for our fathers, those who are with us and those who have gone before us and brought us to this point in our lives.

Fathers Day is a day we celebrate the role of fathers in our lives. It is normally a day of joy and congratulations. But, it is more than that, it is a reminder of what a father’s role should be. A father is to be the spiritual head of the family, a provider of both spiritual and earthly needs, the protector, commander, president, judge and most of all – the leader. To lead, you must be ahead of those you lead. Lead means, follow me; not, head that way. A father must live his life for his family. The role comes with privileges, but the privileges are granted only to those who fulfill the responsibilities. Those responsibilities are awesome, but the rewards incredible. Yet, as a father, I assure you, in the words of Paul, we all fall short. But that does not mean we should give up, but rather we must redouble our efforts.

I share with you a poem in my Fathers Day card. I can tell you I have fallen short, but it is clear from the card what I must do in the coming year:

When we remember our fathers, we remember not only those who brought us into this world, but also those who have gone before. We stand here in the present only on the shoulders of those whose actions and leadership got us here. As fathers we know we are not perfect, nor were our fathers, nor theirs. For the sins of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. Exodus 34.7 We need be mindful of that when we live our lives. We serve as a model for our children and grandchildren, as well as others who see our lives. Living as a father gives one greater tolerance for the errors of their fathers and an appreciation for the pressure they were under. One can only marvel at the job they did.

AY God grant each father the strength to live their life in a manner consistent with our duty as a father, husband, brother; and to fulfill the promise we made to God and Family when we accepted the role as a father. We, each of, us fall short, but ask God God’s help to meet the challenge, in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen

Propers
Each Sunday there are Propers: special prayers and readings from the Bible. There is a Collect for the Day; that is a single thought prayer, most written either before the re-founding of the Church of England in the 1540s or written by Bishop Thomas Cranmer, the first Archbishop of Canterbury after the re-founding.

The Collect for the Day is to be read on Sunday and during Morning and Evening Prayer until the next Sunday. The Epistle is normally a reading from one of the various Epistles, or letters, in the New Testament. The Gospel is a reading from one of the Holy Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The Collect is said by the minister as a prayer, the Epistle can be read by either a designated reader (as we do in our church) or by one of the ministers and the Holy Gospel, which during the service in our church is read by an ordained minister.

The propers are the same each year, except if a Red Letter Feast, that is one with propers in the prayerbook, falls on a Sunday, then those propers are to be read instead, except in a White Season, where it is put off. Red Letter Feasts, so called because in the Altar Prayerbooks the titles are in red, are special days. Most of the Red Letter Feasts are dedicated to early saints instrumental in the development of the church, others to special events. Some days are particularly special and the Collect for that day is to be used for an octave (eight days) or an entire season, like Advent or Lent.

GOD, the strength of all those who put their trust in thee; Mercifully accept our prayers; and because, through the weakness of our mortal nature, we can do no good thing without thee, grant us the help of thy grace, that in keeping thy commandments we may please thee, both in will and deed; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Today’s Epistle came from St. John‘s First General Epistle, the Fourth Chapter, beginning at the Seventh Verse. John pointed out that if we do not love our brethren here on earth we have seen and touched, how then can we claim to have love for God, whom no man hath seen? “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” God loved us so much He sent His only Son to die for our sins. That is true love. Not that we love Him, but that first He loved us! So, if God first loved us, ought we also not love each other? No one has seen God at any time. Yet, He loves us and we say we love Him. If we do love one another, then God is in us, the Holy Ghost, and we are in Him. Be bold, the world will end some time, for each of us it ends when we leave here. Fear not, trust in God and dread naught. God and His love will keep fear and the damage it does at bay. Love each other and act on that love.

This reading covers the same ground as Jesus’ Summary of the Law, the second portion, “That he who loveth God love his brother also.” God is love, not hate.

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only-begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Today’s Gospel came from the Sixteenth Chapter of the Gospel according to St. Luke, beginning at the Nineteenth Verse. It is a story Jesus told of Lazarus, not the Lazarus whom he raised from the dead, but a fictional character. This Lazarus was poor and very ill, he was laid at the gate of an extremely well fed rich man hoping he might be fed with the castoffs from the rich man’s table. He was so ill, he could not move when dogs came to lick his sores. He died and went to heaven where he was well cared for and was whole. The rich man died, and for his self centered behavior here on earth, went to hell where he was tormented horribly. He looked up and saw Lazarus. He begged for just a touch of water, that he might be comforted. Abraham told the rich man that he would receive no comfort as he had partaken of all the comfort he would get while on earth when he thought only of himself. He also told him there was a gulf between heaven and hell through which no one could pass. Hearing that, the rich man asked that Lazarus be sent to his father’s house that his brothers might avoid his fate. Abraham pointed out they had the words of Moses and the prophets, if they would not hear them, they would not listen to one who rose from the dead.

HERE was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: and there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. We can do no good
God is absolute Light, and where there is no light, there remains only darkness – an absolute lack of light! God is Life, and where God is absent there remains only death. God is Strength, and where God is absent, there remains only weakness and absence of any strength at all.

A father once stood at the patio window observing his four year old son try to remove a very large rock from his sandbox. The boy strained and labored. He could barely slide the rock along the sand, but he could not begin to lift it to clear the bordering beams that enclosed the sandbox. After a time of struggle and frustration, the boy began to cry. The father went outside to comfort the boy. “Why are you crying Jimmy?” the father asked. “Because this large rock keeps getting in the way, and I do not have enough strength to lift it out.” Have you used all of your strength available? ” asked the father. “Sure I have,” replied Jimmy. “No, you have not!” said the father – you have my strength as well to add to your own,” and with that, the father easily lifted the rock from the sand box.

How often do we struggle and labor in frustration by attempting to defeat our giants alone when we could simply call upon the strength of God, our Father to vanquish every Goliath and crush every serpent? But we cannot call upon the strength of God if we have not put our trust in Him: O GOD, the strength of all those who put their trust in thee. Archbishop Cranmer substituted ‘trust’ for the older word ‘hope’ that appeared in the original taken from the Gregorian Sacramentary.

One truth must be made clear in our hearts up front: God is not obligated to us for anything. He is Sovereign and Lord. If we are seeking His face in prayer under the terms and obligations of the Law, He will never hear our prayer. We must appeal to His Mercy and Grace when we pray. Such prayers are offered out of a humble heart and will most often be consistent with what God wills to grant to us. Mercifully accept our prayers. All prayers are answered through Mercy and not constraint.

Man has no real strength at all. Even his next breath depends upon the mercy and grace of God. Weakness is a mark of our mortal natures. “. . . . and because through the weakness of our mortal nature, we can do no good thing without thee,” We are incapable of doing anything good. How long will it take us in our Christian studies to realize this simple fact. Since our fallen natures are sinful, all that we imagine and act upon is sinful. But the soul that is surrendered to Christ will act according to the Mind and strength of the Lord. The resulting works will be righteous because they belong to Christ, and not us, who works and moves in our spirits. “. . . grant us the help of thy grace.” Our imputed righteousness is, above all, a grant of Grace!

WITHOUT Christ, we can do nothing – WITH Christ, we can do all things because He is all-powerful! I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Phil 4:13) Christ cannot be manipulated. He must remain the Lord of our lives if He is to strengthen us.

“. . . that in keeping thy commandments we may please thee, both in will and in deed.” Do you believe the Commandments of God are a thing of the past and worth nothing? You would be in great error so to believe. Obedience to God is an act that pleases Him very well. Obedience of God’s Commandments is simply complying with His perfect will. You will note the precise order of words next: both in will and in deed. This is exactly the order of imputed righteousness – first, we WILL to obey; secondly, we ACT to obey. The will must ALWAYS precede the deed for a righteous deed performed without a heart dedicated to God is still sin. If we take pride in our righteousness, we have thereby lost the favor of God: An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin. (Prov 21:4)

All our prayers, all our thoughts, all our actions, must be determined by our faith in, and dependency upon, the Lord Jesus Christ: through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Sermon – The Rich Man and Lazarus
How many of us will live long enough to face death? Let’s see – ALL! Then what?

Today’s text is about two men of opposite characters. In actuality, it is about three men – the Rich Man, Lazarus, and Abraham. Only the names of two are mentioned – Abraham and Lazarus – because they are the only names of eternal worth transcribed in the Lamb’s Book of Life. The Rich Man has no need of a name in Hell.

Though this parable (and perhaps a real event in reality) is meant for all of us, Jesus primarily aimed it at the rich and powerful preachers of His day who coveted MONEY. Do you believe any nature of man’s heart has changed from that day to this! Jesus had just told a parable about another rich steward who used his money to satisfy mammon by sharing the wealth. The Pharisees stood about and jeered Him: 14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. (Luke 16:14) So Jesus related this parable. How many churches can you enter today without hearing an over-abundant plea for MONEY?

`The Holy Bible has much to say about riches, and Jesus Christ, who is the Word Incarnate, adds to the volume of commentary on riches:

AY not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:19-21)

EMOVE far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: 9 Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. (Proverbs 30:8-9)

ERILY I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:23-26)

In describing another rich man, Christ refers to Zaccheus: And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. (Luke 19:1-2) But Zaccheus also was saved in his riches while Dives (the Rich man in today’s text) was condemned.

Our Sermon text for today comes from the 16th chapter of the Gospel of St Luke, beginning at the 16th verse, giving us a picture of the reward of those who consider only riches of worth, and a poor beggar who places his trust in God alone; however, the chapter begins with another rich man:

Christ paints a real life scene of two different lifestyles on the same canvas:

1. He first sketches the contrast between Dives and Lazarus in life, a contrast the more impressive because the painter does not bring his two figures together from the opposite ends of the earth, or even from east and west of the same city only. Lazarus gasping in the shadow of the gateway, and the purple drapery of Dives moving behind the blossom and leafage of the courtyard in the hall beyond, might have been seen by the passer-by from the same point of view; so it is no outburst of eccentric idealism that leads the painter to put two such figures on one canvas.

2. Christ now paints another contrast, a contrast dealing not with the things that are seen and temporal, but with the things that are unseen and eternal. The contrast is resumed beyond the grave, but the figures are transposed. The next world has its contrasts as well as this.

3. A contrast of character underlies this picture. Little is told us of the beggar beyond the contrast in character implied in the name chosen to describe him; Lazarus or ‘God my helper’. The rich man’s life was turned away from God, and turned towards himself; the beggar’s was turned away from himself and turned towards God.

Note the truths illustrated herein:

1. A common experience awaits all – rich and poor – the experience of death!

2. When death takes us from this life, we carry no riches or acclaim.

3. A difference in destinies awaits the a) lost and b) those who trust in God.

4. Our Names (or identities) are only important in God.

5. There is a difference in honor and love of those who die in Christ

6. We all are aware of our conditions in the afterlife.

7. Those in heaven cannot see Hell.

8. Those in Hell can see Heaven

9. There can be no conveyance between Heaven and Hell.

10. If we believe not the full counsel of God, we cannot come to God.

What lessons do we learn from this Parable of our Lord?

1. What seems most valuable in this life may be the least valuable, or of no value at all.

2. We must love one another:

HOU shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (Matthew 22:36-39)

NEW commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. (John 13)

3. We can take no riches from this world.

4. We must deposit our riches in love, obedience, and Godliness in God’s Bank.

5. We must make our salvation certain while life remains. John 6: 1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. 2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

6. Miracles are not what convinces: “….though one return from the dead…”

7. Failure to decide this day and hour, we may be lost as the rich man and find our graves in hell.

Whose bread do you eat? The Bread of Heaven, or the molded and decayed bread the world offers?

Today’s sermon brought the Collect, Epistle and Gospel together and is partly contained in the forewords above.

Consider these words from the Collect:

… the strength of all those who put their trust in thee; … through the weakness of our mortal nature, we can do no good thing without thee, grant us the help of thy grace, that in keeping thy commandments we may please thee, both in will and deed…

This is a little longer Collect than usual, but in it we acknowledge God is the source of our strength, as without Him we are weak and cannot do any true good. Thus, we ask His help or grace to do His Will in both in our thoughts and actions. This is a consistent theme through all the collects, because it is based on the simple truth we cannot help ourselves and we need true Divine Guidance in order to make it into heaven. We need His Guidance to perform the actions we need to follow the course Jesus set for us.

And, what is the first action we are to take? To love one another. Saint John pointed out if we do not love our fellow creatures here on earth whom we have seen and touched, how then can we claim to have love for God, whom not one of us have seen? We do not love God if we do not love our fellow humans. Even if they have strayed a long ways off the path, we are still called to love them and help them if they want to be helped. It does not matter how we feel about them personally, it is what God has called us to do and what Jesus has shown us through these actions.

We are called to love individuals. How do we love individuals? The first step is if we have unrighteous anger and or hatred in our hearts to cease that towards them. First hatred and unrighteous anger needs to be stopped, for it is not a virtue of God. Hate stems from sin and evil and from Satan. There is no individual on this earth worth hating. Ultimately hate will rot away your heart and soul until you have none left effectively. Hate is not worth the energy that it consumes. Instead of hating people, try to love them; a positive force instead of a negative force. It is easier said than done and sometimes it is really hard not to hate somebody, but whenever you find yourself doing that, think of the consequences of hating somebody and switch to loving them instead.

However, loving an individual does not mean that you approve of their acts that are sinful and harmful to one’s health, spiritual or physical. This is concept which confuses many today. They think we are condemning them, when in reality that is far, far from the truth. We cannot condone such things as smoking or homosexual acts or abortion. Though we may know individuals who do these things, we must despise the sin, but realize these people, no matter how truly fallen they may be (Some are worse than others, but none are better. As Paul says, all fall short), are people created in the express image of God by God.

God loved us so much He sent His only Son to die for our sins. That is true love. Not that we love Him, but that first He loved us! God is the source of true love and He is the reason true love has so many wonderful qualities, so strong and enduring. So, if God first loved us, ought we also not love each other? No one has seen God at any time. Yet, He loves us and we say we love Him. If we do love one another, then God is in us, the Holy Ghost, and we are in Him. Be bold, the world will end sometime; for each of us this world ends when we leave here. Fear not, trust in God and dread naught.

Do not be afraid to love one another, regardless of what any man says. Do not fear man, only fear God, the great Judge, and Jesus the Advocate, and the Spirit, the Purifier, Guiding Light. Man can do nothing in comparison to God. Man can only hurt us physically, they cannot hurt our souls. God and His love will keep fear and the damage it does at bay. Love each other and act on that love.

Jesus illustrates perfectly in this parable what happens when we only think of ourselves and do not help or even think of others. He could have taken pity on him and Actually helped him, like the Good Samaritan. Instead, he just let him die, figuring that that was the end of him. Lazarus was a rather disgusting feature of his world; when he died, the rich man was pleased not to have to pass by him. Yet, it never entered into his head to help.

Why was he this way? It was because he was a selfish person who only thought of himself and how he was inconvenienced by Lazarus’s presence, and never stopped to think of what Lazaraus was going through and how he could help Lazarus. This man was the total opposite of the Good Samaritan in every way. There is sadly way too many people in this world like the rich man, and not just those of high income status but those of low income status too. This is a problem that effects everyone due to our sinful nature.We must do our best to let God into our hearts and fight this sinful nature, so we can act more like the Good Samaritan and less like the rich man from the parable.

How can we prevent ourselves from becoming like the rich man? Put your trust in God and dread naught. Love those around you and ACT on that love. It does not matter if they are the same religion as you, but you still must love and act towards them all the same. That does not mean baring your throat to the Koran following Muslims; but it does mean treating them with kindness and charity until you must act to defend you and your way of life from them. They deserve pity, for as they follow Allah, that is the Devil, as Christ said They know not what they do.

Think how you can help, not how you can “enjoy” life. Helping never means supporting those who do not feel like supporting themselves. For dependency breeds slothfulness and contempt. Dependency destroys the soul.

What is does mean is facilitating a way for those who do not have what they need to earn what they need; to bring them the means of acquiring those things which they need. Those things are spiritual as well as physical. A hand up; not a hand out. You will find out the more you help, the more you enjoy real life. Whether it is helping somebody at the office, around the neighborhood or a friend, there is immense pleasure from the result of helping people, so much more than feathering your own nest, so to speak. It is not only more blessed to give than to receive, but it brings a lot more happiness into your life.

This is hard to do. We want to concentrate on what makes us feel good about ourselves right here and right now. We have to be coerced into staying on the narrow path upward and inward. But, that is where our home is.

Heaven is at the end of an uphill trail. The easy downhill trail does not lead to the summit.

The time is now, not tomorrow. The time has come, indeed. How will you ACT?

It is by our actions we are known.

OE unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth! 9 In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant. 10 Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah. 11 Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! 12 And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands. (Isaiah:5:8-12)

One thing we notice about this section of today’s reading is a very distinct compare and contrast.

I have used that technique in teaching to focus my students on discrepancies, wide gaps between good and not good, and anything else that will get them to see both similarities and differences.

This is not the Lord’s disapproval of the wealthy or those who are successful, no he is reminding them who made this wealth possible.

He is pointing out that excess will cloud or block your view of what the Lord has done. “..but they do not regard the deeds of the Lord, or see the work of his hands” We must also see the comparison concerning parties or happy gatherings.

Take note of the feasts and happy gatherings noted else where in the scriptures in which with proper regard and without wild abandon, these were well celebrated (the Purim festival, the wedding at Cana, the return of the Prodical Son, etc.) The Lord is using Isaiah to point out excess and giving a warning to those who might party without regard to anything outside their small world.

Wow, how current is the Word of the Lord? With the reality that this has been going on since the Garden, we have seen in the last forty years a rapid abandonment of what was once considered shared social mores. How many times a week do we read, hear, or see this ideal put out as the truth?

People calling evil good and good evil. We can still preach to this concept in this country, but our fellow Christians in Canada can no longer point out how wrong that whole concept is, they will be charged with a “hate crime or hate speech”. As a nation we have gone back and forth between a broad approach to life and a more constrained one, we had two national revivals in our American history, the Great Awakening and the Second Great Awakening. It is not unfeasible that we may have a third national revival. We have never been nor should we be a theocracy, but we do need to be a nation that respects common decency, law and a foundational form that helps to foster peace and unity, not discord, anger, and disunity, as current laws seem to give rise to.

(Isaiah5:18-24)

These final four verses of our reading give us a dire warning to the behavior and attitude that seems so prevalent in this country especially.

The Gallup Poll just released a survey centered around the question of the belief in God in the United States. As with many statistics we can find a number of ways to interpret the results. The main thrust of the survey was the lower number of those who believe in God as reflected over the last 70 years. Now bear in mind, at one time you were well advised to at least give “lip” service to a belief in God or some higher power, it was prudent, especially for small and large business owners. Now we see the trend, at time rapidly being adopted, of the “WOKE” concepts that prevail in the more left of center and liberal camps in this nation.

Why are the big corporations jumping on board? I would say because of the timid and non-offending “gospel” that is being presented in most churches today. There is no clear message from the churches. The Gospel is only being preached in a remnant of organized religion across the nation.

To paraphrase from Ezra/Nehemiah era, “….if the trumpet makes an uncertain {weak} call, how do the people know the signal or call?” The uncertain or weak call today is the lack of the clarion call of the Gospel. Now is the time beloved. We must carefully and prayerfully return to the message that brings peace, God’s love, and eternal life to all who accept the Word made Flesh. Now is the time.

We need to take note, beginning with our own lives in modeling the Christ like behavior, giving rise to the question from non-believers… “why do you act so differently from everyone else?” As St Peter wrote, be ready to give answer to that question and others like it, be ready to show why you believe and who you believe in, Jesus Christ, our Savior. Let us meditate on the Word of God this day and throughout this week. Let us try to live our lives as followers of the Risen Lord. Let us reveal his presence to the lost and dying world, each day, every day until he returns in his Glory.

ATHER as we meditate on your Word today, help us to apply the message to our lives. We ask that you be with those in harms way, the young men and women in uniform, world wide. Help us as a nation come back to you, for you have the answers to all the problems, concerns, and worries that nibble at us every day, that keep us from focusing on you and your wonderful works, especially in the perfect sacrifice of your only Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Give us peace that passes understanding, these things we ask in thee through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with thee and the Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory, world without end. Amen

We are fortunate to have Bryan’s Sunday Sermon. If you want people to come to The Truth, you have to speak the truth, espouse the truth and live the truth. This is really a good piece and I commend it to your careful reading.

First Sunday after Trinity

Have you ever considered the warning that our Lord gave in Matthew 7:21 that, not every one that saith unto me Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven? And have you ever taken into account the fact that our modern world shares many similarities with the world from whence Christianity came? Food for thought and questions that should not be answered flippantly or without care. For instance, in our world today a tiny minority controls an ever- increasing portion of the wealth and political power in this and every land. And like our Lord’s day, our own time has been marred by strife between nation-states as well as between ethnicities within the same. Consider also that prior to the birth of our Lord, the Roman Republic had been undone by the very men whose desired to possess it. And with its demise, a new institution— the Roman Imperium— arose like a Phoenix from the ashes of the old republic. Similarly, the American republic is being slowly bled to death by those who would possess its power to do their bidding. And finally, the world that Christianity came from was dominated by idolatry and paganism and is certainly the case today in America and other places.

We know from history the Christian faith grew in spite of the obstacles which were arrayed against it. Nevertheless, the Devil and his cadres of malicious miscreants have over the millennia continuously sought to influence as many souls as they can to accept his alternative to the gospel of truth. So from the latter half of the first century AD, the apostles were given of the Holy Spirit to warn their followers about those who would seek to divide, confuse and distress the faithful. Consider the words of the apostle Paul to the Ephesian elders: Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them (Acts 20:28-30). And St. Jude advised the faithful, to contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares… ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ (3-4). Thus it would behoove faithful ministers to warn their congregations about any person or group who would put forth the name of Christ without adhering to his teachings.

One of the first such heresies was Gnosticism. The late Dr. Jesse Hurlbut observed some Gnostics of the first century AD “… believed that out of the supreme God emanated a large number of inferior deities, some beneficent, other malignant… that [Christ was] one of those ‘emanations’… They [also] interpreted the Scriptures in an allegorical manner, making every statement mean whatever the interpreter saw fit.” And the modern versions of Gnosticism are little different. They deny the existence of the Trinity; the divine nature of our Lord; the personage of the Holy Ghost; the eternal punishment of the wicked; as well as the atoning work of our Lord on the cross. They also employ selected Bible tenetsapart from their intended meanings as found in Scripture. While claiming the name of Christ, their principles are framed in the form of demands such as, “I want this or that…etc.”. In short, these bodies are not dedicated any longer to our Lord. They have morphed into what we may rightly call the churches of “ME”. A “ME” church styles its precepts in terms of the individual. In other words, “It is the world the way I want it; the church the way I want it; relationships the way I want them; and of course, morality the way I want it.”

Ergo, it should not be at all surprising these so-called churches are merely New Age religious cults doctrinally based on the tenets of Classical Gnosticism. And this belief system is older than most of its adherents might imagine. The prophet Isaiah presented us with the specifics as to where such ideas originated when he wrote, How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations. For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God… I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High (14:12-14). That last phrase, I will be like the most High, was passed on to humanity at the fall in the Garden of Eden. When Satan entered the serpent and seduced Eve to sin, he lured her in with these words, Ye shall not die; for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil (Genesis 3:4-5). Ever after, God expected mankind to do what was good because he knew the difference between good and evil after having partaken of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But the desire to be as gods has been one of the principal motivators which has fueled mankind’s rebellion against his Creator. And with that in mind, God has set forth within the pages of Scripture the dismal record of profane man’s efforts to create religious paths to suit himself.

Let us begin with Cain. Now Cain offered God what he wanted him to have as a sacrifice and not what God desired (Genesis 4:1-7). The children of Israel had Aaron fashion an idol to satisfy their fleshly minds apart from the commandments which God had given to them (Exodus 32:1-7). And, on account of their specious reasoning, Korah and Dathan opposed the leadership of Moses in spite of the fact that God had expressly called him to lead the people (Numbers 16:1-3).

The wicked and willful nature of man is exemplified in the Judges 21:25 wherein it was written… every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

Unregenerate men, after having received the gifts of God, will, nevertheless, turn to their own reasoning in order to justify their intentions rather than trusting in God’s promises much as Jeroboam did when turned away from the promises of God to make gods for the children of Israel to worship (I Kings 12:26-33). And just like Jeroboam, foolish humanity continues to buy into the Devil’s scheme of creating gods for themselves as if their works were somehow superior to those of the Creator himself (Isaiah 44:8-20). The false choices of the unregenerate will result in God’s wrath being poured out upon them. And if our worship does not follow his commands then we are in danger as well of becoming castaway (Jeremiah 7:17-20; 9:12-14; 23:25-36; Ezekiel 8:1-18; Daniel 9:13). God has warned us in no uncertain terms that those who would substitute the commandments of men for those of our righteous and holy God are vain in their imaginations, and will be despoiled (Matthew 15:1-9; Romans 1:21; Colossians 2:8, 18-23).

The foolish nature of unconverted man has time and again opened him up to spiritual deception by the forces of darkness. In such a state he may use the name of Christ all the while denying that Christ is the Saviour and Redeemer kinsman of mankind (I John 4:1-14; 5:1-13). The error of the wicked will eventually become so complete that they will not even entertain the desire to repent when faced with the very wrath of God which will fall upon them (II Thessalonians 2:1- 12; Revelation 9:20). Some may ask, “Do those who are now in such a state possess the opportunity to repent and turn unto God in the name of Jesus Christ?” Of course they do. As long as they are in this life, repentance and acceptance are open to all who have sinned against God’s word and commandments. There will however come a time when their decision will be finalized at either the time of their deaths, or when the Antichrist comes with his mark: because all who accept it are thus irredeemable and will face an eternity of torment (Revelation 14:9-11).

So, what should the faithful Christian do to avoid God’s coming wrath?

First
One should heed the warning of St. Paul who said: Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? (II Corinthians 6:14). The unequal yoke exists because the Devil isn’t interested in simple parity with God. He desires supremacy. That is why those who have been regenerated by the power of the Holy Spirit will find no safety or comfort for their souls amongst those who have rejected the Godhead. So it should be abundantly clear for those who find themselves in such fellowships to forthwith get themselves hence. As the apostle Paul warned, Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you (II Corinthians 6:17). In plain language God is saying: “GET OUT NOW!” for each day you remain within those so-called churches, you are likely to fall prey to further deception. Remember Lot!

Second
Beware of false prophets and teachers who have a mere appearance of righteousness, but are inwardly ravening wolves (Matthew 7:15). False ministers are also described as hirelings because they are insincere. When temptation and trial come, they will disappear leaving their congregants to fend for themselves (John 10:12). Such persons long ago surrendered to the adversary. As our Lord called on us to be fishers of men (Matthew 4:19), so the evil one has trained up his minions to ensnare men.

Third
We are to avoid the sins of the flesh (I Corinthians 6:9-10; Ephesians 5:3-7). The apostle Paul noted in his epistle to the Romans that those, who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them (1:32). So, one does not have to commit a particular sin to be guilty of it. One need only approve of those who commit the same. God will judge your tolerance for evil as an acceptance of evil.

Fourth
We are to put on the whole armor of God and stand ready for battle against the forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:10-18). There is a great spiritual war going on around us and we all must choose a side. If you choose to follow the Lord Jesus Christ, then you will face persecution and tribulation, nevertheless you will triumph with our Lord at his coming and receive the gift of everlasting life in his kingdom. If you reject his free gift of salvation, you will, by default, wind up in the camp of the evil one and will be forever lost in the fires of perdition. Donning the whole armor of God will protect you in this fight. You must understand that in this conflict there will be no surrender, no negotiation, and no pity. You cannot placate God, and you certainly cannot placate the Devil except to purchase a momentary pleasure which will result in an eternity of heartache and misery (Revelation 20:11-15).

Fifth
We must attempt to rescue those who have fallen into pit of false religion by contending for the faith through our witness on our Lord’s behalf (Jude 3); by praying for God to give them repentance that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will (II Timothy 2:26). We are also called to reach into the fire and pull as many out as we can (Jude 22-23). To aid us in this cause, we must ask the LORD for an in-filling of the Holy Ghost, for only through his presence within and around us will we be truly enabled to serve our Lord in his harvest.

And keep in mind the day of Christ is at hand and in that light we need to be instant in season, out of season. We need to reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine (II Timothy 4:2). So be in prayer and read your bibles, and do not hesitate to ask God for assistance. We have friends and loved- ones who are in danger and need to be warned. We cannot quit now regardless of how late it is for only the Father knows the day and the hour of our Lord’s return. We should not be about condemnation but reclamation. Yes, we must warn the unregenerate about the terror of the Lord, but the central message to them ought to be about being made right with God and following his path to eternity. Therefore, be Bereans (Acts 17:10-11); be watchful (Luke 21:36); be ready (Matthew 24:44); and be armored (Ephesians 6:10). If we will keep the commandments of our Lord, we will be blessed and our works will have value in his sight.

OLY Father, pour upon us thy most holy Spirit, that being so filled we will fight the good fight of faith and help rescue those who have been ensnared by the false religions which Satan has established to cloud men’s minds; for this we ask in the name of thine only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Prayer Team of the Anglican Orthodox Church was established to help our members and fellow Christians pray for those in need and to give thanks as well for the blessings we have been granted.

Who can be on the list? Do I have to be a member of the Anglican Orthodox Church to be prayed for?
No! The only qualification to be on the list is that you want our prayer team to pray for you. We are Christians and are happy to pray for you, no matter who you are. If you want help from God, you are our kind of people.

What is the commitment from the prayer team?
Each member of the team will pray for the desired outcome at last once per day.

Corona Virus
With most of the world on some form of restriction, we ask you pray for the governments be guided into appropriate reaction and scientists find cures and vaccines and that the virus pass each of us by.

Laurie, daughter of Jim and Mary Lou Flanagan has post-Covid lung damage, dizziness, falling, blacking out and loss of time relation. Please pray that they find a cure for these problems for Laurie.

Four of the kids from Bishop Jerry’s home parish have come down with Covid. Please pray for their complete and rapid recovery, as well as to know what treatment they need.

Sandra (63) and her two grandchildren. Sandra and her daughter live in New York and recently got Covid requiring hospitalization and ventilators in ICU. Sandra’s daughter died in ICU and Sandra pulled through and is now home. She is coping with traumatic grief, as she did not get to see or get to be near her daughter in her time of need, confusion on how to proceed on providing for and protecting her and her grandchildren who are teenagers. Please pray for the Lord’s comfort in

Bishop David Pressey and his wife Elizabeth, from St. George’s Anglican Church of Ventura are recovering from Covid. Please pray for their complete and rapid recovery, as well as to know what treatment they need.

Bill Hall is still having difficulty breathing and with his ability to move about.

Kai Mandella – Loss of Lung Function

Donald and his family. Donald has Covid, is medically sedated, and has been on a ventilator for a number of days. He makes a little progress and then experiences a setback. This had been a rollercoaster pattern now for a while. Please pray that our Heavenly Father will restore him to health and that He will meet the emotional and financial needs of the family at this time. Donald has a wife and four children.

Travel
Jack, Dru and Hap are on travel this week to Austin, Texas, for a reunion of the 91 Tactical Fighter Squadron from Thursday until Sunday.

Birthdays
Dru Arnold celebrated her 67th birthday on 2 February 2022, she saw her shadow, so there will six more weeks of winter, Southern California style, that is lows in the mid-thirties, highs around 60°F.

Jim Flanagan celebrated his 83rd birthday 12 January 2022.

Immediate Prayer Please
Roy Morales-Kuhn is having trouble shaking a serious sinus infection. Please pray they can find the right antibiotic to help him recover fully and quickly.

Tricia Marie is recovering from a stroke on 11 December 2021, and is still plagued with vision loss from the stroke and the terrible headaches which had been bothering her for months since she got the Moderna vaccine and now dizziness. She has had almost no real sleep or rest for months. She has gotten some relief from the headache from a Botox injection series, may that continue. Please pray for relief from the headache, nausea and pain and rest for her, for guidance for the doctors, nurses and technicians treating her and a full and rapid recovery, for peace of mind for her and her family.

Shamu is totally exhausted, but in relatively good spirits. Shamu has a terrible headache, is in a lot of pain; feels like she has been stabbed, totally exhausted and weak, but her faith is incredibly strong. She asks you pray for guidance for the medical people helping her. After 35 surgeries, she is quite very weak, but strong in her trust in our Lord as she goes through this difficult time. She needs your prayer. Please.

Obra Gray found out he has diabetes after trying to make himself feel better by eating high sugar food and coming close to death. Please pray he will be able to recognize his situation, change his diet, and adapt to insulin injection. Pray for strength and understanding for Obra and his family.

Tommy Cook is beset by Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Congestive Heart failure. It seems there is little that can be done except fight a delaying action against the aggressive pair. At present it seems like the only avenue open is a heart lung transplant and little chance of that. He asks you pray for guidance for the doctors, nurses and technicians treating him and the miracle of a full and rapid recovery, for peace of mind for him and his family. He is a very strong Christian and has no concern for himself, but for his wife, children and mother.

Johnie Ratcliff is having breathing issues.
Stephen Ratcliff who is in ICU in Beaumont Hospital in Michigan with problems of liver, kidney and lung issues. They ask you pray for the doctors, nurses and technicians treating them, that they might pay attention, do their very best and be open to God’s guidance. Please pray for peace of mind for Johnie, Stephen and their wife and mother Paulette.

Brady on the way to enter the armed forces in Virginia Beach, got in a horrible tragic car accident that required surgery to restructure his foot, and back surgery to relieve pressure on his spine and repair the breaks. Please pray for his parents, and that he, unsure of what his future will hold, will understand the Lord Jesus Christ holds his future and He will not fail nor forsake him.

David Connis has Stage Four colon cancer, he can no longer do chemotherapy and has switched to immunotherapy in the hope of surviving to participate in an experimental program in December. Please pray for strength and guidance for him and his nine year old daughter, as well as what we consider a good outcome.

Major Tom Connell, a good friend of Hap Arnold, had surgery on 25 February 2022, for abdominal cancer to remove a tumor. Tom now needs surgery for the cancer which has spread to his liver and he will need more chemotherapy which is difficult for him to tolerate. Multiple myeloma is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. Healthy plasma cells help you fight infections by making antibodies that recognize and attack germs. In multiple myeloma, cancerous plasma cells accumulate in the bone marrow and crowd out healthy blood cells

While there is no cure for multiple myeloma, the cancer can be managed successfully in many patients for years; the average life expectancy is 4 years. However, some people beat the odds and live 10 to 20 years or more.

The most common cause of death related to multiple myeloma is infection, with pneumonia being the most common fatal infection. Other common causes of death are bleeding (from low platelet counts), complications of bone fractures, kidney failure, and blood clots in the lungs.

Hank Mook recently had surgery on a five inch rare pleomorphic non-small cell lung carcinoma which was removed along with a lung lobe, it had not spread. He will need chemotherapy which will begin 5 April 2021. The family is asking for prayers for complete healing. Praising God for successful surgery. Rev Jack Andrews, his family and all those living in Fiji Islands just went through a Category Five Cyclone with another one coming their way. They were a month without electric, however, they did have solar power so they were able to make it through the month without incident and are preparing for the next event. Jill was on life support; her family members traveled a great distance to see her and returned home safely. Jill’s condition improved to critical, but needs your prayers to continue her recovery.

Michael Baran – End stage congestive heart failure. 20 March 20 at 10:56 AM To all my friends and family I had to go to the hospital in Rochester NY where I had my implant mechanical heart assist pump placed in my abdomen. I have end stage heart failure. On Wednesday I had to go to the hospital I was in need of a wheelchair I was very weak and I needed to have someone push me because I got short of breath, and I was so weak, I needed assistance to get up out of the wheelchair. I had to do a walk test and I had to have help to stand up my blood pressure was so low. I fell back In to the wheel chair. I tried to walk after they got me up and was able to use the hand rail and walk about a hundred feet there were two aids behind me I had to stop and nearly collapsed. They kept me from going down. After all the tests were done the Nurse practitioner reviewed over the results. I had one valve replaced about 6 months ago. But now the other 3 are leaking, there is not much they can do for me.

Yesterday I prayed that if God didn’t need me here. to take me home. I long to be free of this old body and to see my Lord, my family and friends that have gone on to their rewards, to be with them evermore. I told the Lord if he needs me here then he needs to renew my strength so that I can walk.

I woke up this morning and felt good. I got up to go to the bathroom and to my surprise I did not struggle to stand up!!! I actually walked to the bathroom without a walker. I am back in bed crying as I write this to you as the Holy Spirit brought to my mind Isaiah 40:31 ..Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength and shall soar on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary they shall walk and not faint.

I have been unable to walk more than 100 ft or so, for the last six months in the last two weeks my oxygen saturation was as low as 74 and unable to walk without a walker. have a lift chair-recliner in the TV room. I am now able to get up without it.!!!

My God is an awesome God he has heard my prayers and has indeed strengthened me.!!!

Janine Alvarado’s daughter has what appears to be terminal cancer, she is in much pain, in and out of the hospital. Ron had a Heart Attack, at the hospital he found out he also has Kidney Cancer. He is a man of faith and is in need of prayer for his health and that the Lord will provide strength for his family.

Krysti is off life support and able to talk, please give thanks for the good news. She is still unable to feel her legs. When that comes back she will go to a rehabilitation facility. Krysti has used drugs, has high blood pressure, is diabetic and has organ failure. Her families are with her and will appreciate your prayers.

Amy has been diagnosed with metastatic melanoma and has cancer all over her body, and in one of her kidneys which are no longer functioning. Jim and Pam Lanno – After Jim was recovering from a heart attack, he noticed something was off. Soon came the diagnosis of ALS along with dementia. He is in his early 60s. Pam is learning the role of care taker and overwhelmed and fearful at times. Both are good Christians and love the Lord with all their hearts. Pray for God’s Comfort and Guidance for both and all caretakers who assist.

Babe in her late 80s is experiencing an inability to move at times throughout her day and fear of anyone helping her. Please pray for her family who are caretakers that they may be able to provide the care she needs.

John has Alzheimer’s pray he will call on God to help him as he deals with this.

Steve, brother in law of Paul Martin, appears to have early onset dementia. Steve had teenage children and is very concerned for them. Please pray for the disease to stall or abate and for peace of mind for Steve and his family.

WO5 Lourie Deboer underwent carpal tunnel surgery on her right elbow and wrist on 31 May 2022, with apparently excellent results. Albert had a pacemaker installed recently. He will require surgery soon for a leaking heart valve and has just been told he has esophageal cancer. Pray he will turn to God and come to know Him on a more personal basis as the days go by.

Glenn Porter, MAJ USMC Retired, has Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis, which causes him to be unable to get enough oxygen into his system without supplemental oxygen all the time. The only real treatment is a lung transplant, without a transplant he has between two to five years here on earth. Please pray for him to continue in his faith and for a set of lungs to become available.

Pat has an aneurism of the brain, pray she will make the right decision on how to treat this problem and it will be healed.

Dan is very sick with cancer and is starting an experimental treatment. This treatment will take Dan away from their family business and put even more stress on him and his family. Elma has been suffering with headaches for a long time. Doctors have not been able to discover the reason for them. Madisun Hanks (19) has Tourette’s Syndrome and suffers from horrible migraine headaches. There are various very high risk treatments which provide some relief. None of them are close and none are easy. Madisun is truly one of the most inspiring young ladies we have ever come across, her attitude and actions are almost unbelievable. No one should have to go through what she does, but she makes it through and performs incredibly when others just get by. Hilda Hanks has developed diabetes, which resulted in the need for eye surgery and has difficulty with the added stress in her life. Linda recently had a basal cell carcinoma removed and she is doing well, 15 years with Multiple Myeloma is doing great. She is continuing bimonthly chemo and this keeps her going strong, she is grateful for all prayers.

Chris Hill (close friend of Jon Weston) suffered a brain aneurysm and needs your prayers. He came out of a coma he had been in since the week before Christmas 2016. He is now in a stepdown facility. Every day is a new day to him; his memory seems to have been damaged to a point where it is not recovering so far. Pray for the doctors, nurses and technicians treating him to pay attention, to be open to God’s guidance and do their very be Pray for trust in our Lord and peace of mind for Chris and his family.

Rev Bill had a stroke. Pray he will stay comfortable and Jesus will be close by, please pray for a full and rapid recovery.

Vickie has been bothered with Migraines and all that go with the headaches. Please pray for relief from the pain for Vickie.

Jon has Stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma. There is good news in that he is in remission; however the chemotherapy is producing neuropathy in his legs so it is a challenge for him to get around. Please pray that he will be as comfortable as possible; he has been a Marathon runner so this is especially difficult.

Amy has melanoma in her lungs, liver and kidneys; they have found a treatment for her that has a high success rate however the side effects are debilitating. Please pray she will be able to tolerate the side effects and the treatment is successful. Amy has full trust in the Lord, but would still appreciate your prayers.

Liz had a massive stroke at age thirty-seven. The prognosis is good but she has a long road ahead. Please pray for guidance for those treating her, for trust in our Lord for Liz and her family, for healing.

Ebick is suffering from a severe ulcer but the Doctors cannot give her the proper dosage of the medicine due to her six month pregnancy. Please pray doctors will find an alternative avenue for treatment or that God will provide.

Stan is going through chemotherapy and radiation treatments for cancer. He is elderly and the treatments are tiring him. Please pray for his wife Marvelene as they do this together.

David has many concussions and unable to go to school, read books, watch TV and has headaches and migraines. He has trouble sleeping and his family will appreciate your prayers for this 10 year old young man.

Gladys has breast cancer and has had a lumpectomy. She needs to take a year off of her work to have chemo treatments.

Alwin Jack has had a stroke and recently has had a relapse. Please pray for those who treat Alwin that they might choose the best possible treatment and pray for peace of mind for Alwin during the recovery phase.

Carolyn has Multiple Sclerosis with complications. Pray Carolyn and her children will be close to our Lord Jesus Christ as they and family members help to ease the problems.

Bill had malignant growth removed from a lip last month and seems to be experiencing a re-growth of the cancer. He asks your prayer for the medical team treating him and for peace of mind for himself.

Hank has osteoporosis, which has caused him a great deal of pain and inconvenience in the past few years. Pray for his healing and that his medical bills will be met.

Evelyn is an elderly woman who has had problems with her eyes and is now blind. It appears some sight will return shortly, pray for that to happen!

Joanne has begun kidney dialysis as a result of kidney failure due to extensive chemotherapy. Additionally she cares for an adopted drug addicted baby who is now nine years old. Please pray for her to keep her faith, to let the Lord carry her worry and concern and to give her strength. Pray also for those treating her that they might pay attention and do their best.

Bud and his wife for their continued welfare and enthusiasm. Bud has been advised of an aneurism in his heart of a size not mandating immediate surgery. This comes at a time when he has sole care of his wife who recently broke two vertebrae and thereafter sustained pneumonia.

Dester is suffering from unknown skin and diseases. Please guide the medical team treating him to find out what the problem is and cure it. Pray also for Dester to trust in the Lord.

Lee has Arterial Fibrillation, she is doing much better and she and her family thank you for your prayers. Her pain level is high and some medications have bad side effects. Please continue her in Prayer in the weeks ahead as she heals.

Nell recently adopted two children and has just been diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

Mary Lou has been suffering with seizures. She was in the hospital with a 24 hour monitor and is being sent home from the hospital with two medications and orders to return in 2 months for another MRI to review whatever is going on in her brain. Please pray for guidance for the medical people treating her, as well as peace of mind and trust in God for her and her family.

Kathleen has spent the last two weeks in the hospital. She has been diagnosed with colitis, shingles and possibly colon cancer. Pray she will be comfortable and begin to heal.

Rachel has Mitochondrial Myopathy. This is a hereditary disease of the muscles and they do not have a cure for it. Part of her pain is her family does not believe she is indeed ill, as she appears to be just fine. Please pray her family will learn the truth and be supportive of her; pray also the medical people treating her will find the right measures to minimize the disease. Most particularly pray for Rachel’s trust in God.

Nicolas is in the hospital with serious symptoms of a heart disorder. Please pray for peace of mind for him and guidance for the medical team looking for the cause and cure.

Juanita is a young girl who was in a coma because of a blood disease. She has not come out and is gaining strength. They are awaiting results from blood samples. Her family thanks you for your prayers and asks that you continue.

Kay Denton (Mrs. Kay) is recovering from a hip replacement operation years overdue; please give thanks for her seemingly great recovery and pray for it to continue. Kay has had a stroke and has residual vision and balance problems and needs a knee replacement to be able to move about. She still has many physical difficulties in connection with her dialysis and related problems. She has been on dialysis for many years and has cascading problems. She had been feeling very down and depressed, but has turned a corner. Please pray she retain the cheerful outlook on life that has characterized her being and for continued peace of mind for Mrs. Kay and her family. Give thanks for her trust in the Lord and her positive attitude.

Healing and Patience
Kym (43) has various hip problems which seems to be related to osteoarthritis. And, her mother Ruth is in the early stages of dementia. Pray for guidance for those treating both of them, as well as patience and trust in the Lord for both of them.

Christopher has had problems with his leg for some time. Now he has to have it casted and it will stay that way for what to him seems an interminable time. Pray for patience and peace of mind for this young man who has much he wants to do.

James for the Lord’s healing of health issues and give a remedy for many personal challenges at the moment.

Thanksgiving and Continued Healing
Deborah Drucilla, sister of Bishop Jerry, was hospitalized with a number of issues including blood clot in her liver. She is now home. Please give thanks for a good result so far and a full and rapid recovery, for peace of mind for her and her family.

Wendy Hinman, one of Hap Arnold’s backseaters from the Air Force and a great Christian of much faith, had successful double bypass surgery on 14 March 2022 to replace two stents which failed. He ended up with a lung blood clot and back in the hospital. He is back home again. Please give thanks for the successful surgery and for continued healing and for peace of mind. He is depressed and beset by thoughts he does not want to confront.

Ken Harris underwent apparently very successful quadruple bypass surgery on 8 April 2021, please give thanks for that and continued healing and recovery.

Bill had surgery November 2016 for a kidney tumor; he is one kidney short, but recovering very well for the present. It appears the cancer has spread to another spot. Please pray for Bill as he undergoes chemotherapy and perhaps other treatment. Pray Bill and his family will stay strong in their faith and draw the strength they need from our Lord.

Cindy (81) had an operation to remove a cancerous growth in her stomach which was successful. She is now home, but in a bit of pain. Please give thanks for the good result, pray for full and complete healing and remission of the cancer, as well as cessation of the pain; pray also for continued faith for Cindy and her husband Les (91).

Ruby broke her hip on 10 December 2015, surgery was successful. Please give thanks for the successful surgery and pray for her full and rapid recovery.

Terry was undergoing radiation treatment for cancer, which he had to stop to amputate his leg below the knee due to diabetes. The surgery was successful, he has been fitted with a prosthetic leg and foot. He is in good spirits and positive about the remainder of his treatment. Please join Terry and his family in giving thanks for the successful surgery and continue to pray for his return to radiation treatment and then to chemotherapy, ask God to give Terry, his wife and seven year old son trust in him for peace of mind and heart, as well.

Janet Jessup had a stroke and heart problems were causing huge issues for her. They seem to have gotten her stabilized and she is home. Please pray for those treating her to find the appropriate treatment and for trust in God and peace of mind for Janet and her family, in particular her husband of 45 years, Rev Roger Jessup, retired minister of Saint Joseph of Arimathea Anglican Orthodox Church.

Sam had surgery on his entire large intestine that had become infected. At the time of the operation he was just hours away from a complete organ shutdown. He had had turmoil in his life over the years. Sam is now in the ICU and his Minister visited him and explained to him God had given him another chance for him to make things right with his Lord. Pray for his good health and his spiritual life with Jesus.

Ian had surgery to remove excess skin rendered a nuisance by controlled lost of 200 pounds. Please give thanks for the successful result and for those treating him to have paid attention and done their very best on the lengthy surgery, taking the best possible care of him. Please pray for his continued recovery and strength for his Mother who will be in charge of his after care.

Jenniffer had surgery for breast cancer on 15 October 2014. She continues to have other complications which preclude her from making a full recovery in particular, the reconstructive surgery seems to have gravely affected her back muscles and nerves, resulting in both very limited mobility and extreme pain, the drugs are making her terribly sick; please pray those will be overcome. Pray for help for Jenniffer to keep her trust in the Lord and let Him carry her worry and concern as she recovers. Please pray also for strength and courage for her family as they try their best to help her.

Elma is suffering from cancer. She was taken home from the hospital on the advice of her Doctor. We were asked to pray Elma’s remaining time here on earth might be good and Elma and family might put their trust in the Lord and let Him carry their worry. Since then, Elma’s Bishop told us a great Miracle of the Lord is working over Elma. Doctors sent her home to die, but now she seems to be doing all right. On behalf of her, thank you for all of your prayers. Please continue praying for her complete healing.

Mike is a veteran who has served his country when she called. Please pray he will open his heart to God so He can make Mike’s crooked road straight and pull him towards the summit rather than to the pit.

Financial Guidance and Employment
Kona is applying for a job in the hospital. Pray our Lord will find the right position for her and she will glorify Him in the work.

Doug recently became unemployed from his job of 18 years. He has been applying for jobs, but unable to get one at this time. His wife is working; this is not enough for the family. Please pray he will find employment with a firm that will be able to use his considerable skill and hard work to benefit both the firm and the family.

Lori is considering a potential change in her employment. Please pray for God’s guidance in considering all aspects of her potential work.

Financial Guidance and Healing
Clark is in need of salvation; for God’s Will to be done in his life. Pray his family will be blessed with the financial miracles that come from doing His Will.

Guidance
Jackie and her son Tommy, Jackie 10 years free of substance use, returned to substance use while pregnant with Tommy who was born free of substances. Tommy has been removed from her and placed with Grandparents. Pray for the Grandparents strength and courage to raise Tommy in a Godly way and for Jackie to return to the Lord and give up substance use and become a responsible Mother.

Zachary is still having huge problems growing up. He has backed away from much of the evil, but seemingly has adopted the sloth as his ‘spirit animal’ and does not want to move forward in life. Pray his parents Lee and Shamu will come to see what course of action they can take to help Zachary and safeguard his brother and sister. Please pray for God’s guidance for all of them and in particular for Zachary to open his heart to God and his parents help.

Linda is slowly converting her children through her great loving attitude and Love of the Lord.

Judy seemingly does not want to allow the Holy Ghost into her heart so she might come to know our Lord and Savior, despite the efforts of her family. Please pray for her to open her heart and for her family to be at peace with their efforts.

Barbara has been recovering from cancer for the last three years. Pray for her husband Bill who has come down with a mental illness that may have been caused by much stress the last few years. Barbara and Bill will appreciate your prayers.

Larry is very weak and has periods of confusion and depression. Larry has been in the hospital and recently moved to a rehab. Please keep him in prayer as he begins to gain strength in the days ahead.

Thomas recently learned as the result of a parole violation he will not be allowed to return to society for the remainder of his life. He is despairing and fearful of his inability to cope with this new news and God’s plan for his life. Please pray he will be able to work with God to live with the choices he has made and go forward.

Cam has gotten into some of the issues being with the wrong crowds, too much dinking and making the wrong decisions. Pray he will ask God to send the Holy Ghost in to straighten things out and he will listen when He speaks to him.

Paul recently had his large toe amputated due to diabetes and is having a difficult recovery filled with fear about dying. He recently accepted Jesus as his savior and his family Rosie and Brenda are very grateful. Pray for strength for both Rosie and Brenda who are staying by his side through it all encouraging him on.

Steve is addicted to alcohol, pain pills and gambling. Pray for wisdom, courage and strength to stick with treatment and follow God’s plan for his life.

Eli has some mental issues and has lost his way. He has yet to come to grips with the demons chasing him. He has returned to his family living in a cottage on his parents’ property in Hawaii so that they can keep him on his meds. He is doing much better, but he still needs prayer to follow his medication schedule. His parents are so thankful for all of the prayers as they have felt the Holy Spirit’s power in handling Eli during his dark periods.

Michael and his Family ask your prayers for wisdom as they are under trial and affliction to follow the law of the land and yet honor God in so doing.

Flora is in remission with cancer, but has high blood pressure and fatigue. Flora’s Mother recently died and this has caused added stress. Please pray she will be able to let God carry her worry and sorrow so she can do the things she must do.

Mitten has a Christian talking to him about Christ. Mitten does not believe and does not seem to care. Please pray Mitten will see the light.

Kristen, Rickey and their two children ask you to pray for grace, wisdom and understanding as they attempt to cope with infidelity, separation and possibly divorce as a result of backsliding from the Lord into the World.

Helene and her family ask your prayers for them as they deal with the loss of Alan, husband and father.

Caitlin is in the grip of the Prince of Darkness; she thinks there is escape from reality in drugs. The saddest part is that reality is not as she sees it. Her family is despairing as they can do nothing to help her and ask that you pray for the Holy Ghost to enter into heart and show her the need for change before it is too late.

Nathaniel is in spiritual turmoil. His family and friends will appreciate it if you will keep him in your prayers for him to find the root of his trouble and accept God’s help.

Sam and her two children have been living in a shelter and are to lose their place there. Please pray a place will be found they can stay in and recover.

Norrie is facing daily exams in the weeks ahead. Pray for calmness and concentration and to do the best possible.

Jonathan is addicted to drugs. He is now in jail awaiting trial. His parents and friends will appreciate it if you will keep him in your prayers for him to find the root of his trouble and accept God’s help to heal addiction.

Beth is suffering from ungodly treatment in her marriage. Please pray God will guide her in her behavior, actions and thoughts that she might be able to lead her husband to God so her marriage might prosper to the benefit of them.

Jeanette has had many members of her family die from diabetes and several are near death now. Jeanette does not know the Lord and is despondent and perplexed about her family and herself. Please pray she can open her heart to allow the Holy Ghost in to bring her knowledge and understanding.

Sara asks that you pray for guidance for her as she deals with the stresses of life. Pray she can separate those things which she can affect from those things which she cannot and give her grace to accept that she cannot do everything and can only change those things within her control. She asks for God’s help to keep up with the needs of her husband and healing her own problems.

I am writing to request your prayers for Colombia, my country. At this moment frightful things are happening, a great diabolical shadow is cast over this nation.

1. The Constitutional Court in a tyrannical way has decriminalized the crime of abortion in Colombia, even up to six months. This is an illegitimate process, the court is legislating, something that is not within the competence of the judges, on the other hand the issue of abortion was a cause judged in 2006, which is why it should not be judged again in 2022. But socialist groups, international elites, social engineers and feminist groups have not given up on the issue. They want to traffic in death.

2. The candidate of the extreme left Gustavo Petro is close to become the president of Colombia, this is a man who in his youth was a guerrilla criminal, a vile and despicable man who has always served the interests of drug trafficking, he was an advisor to Chavez who implanted Communism in Venezuela, his second home is Communist Cuba.

3. The same court approved the movement of Gustavo Petro called: “la Colombia Humana”, it gave him the status of a political party, with this, he has the possibility of getting to introduce at least 15 congressmen, basically he is close to kidnapping all the powers, he already has the judicial power in his pocket, he only lacks the executive and the legislative. We are close to the precipice, we trust in a miracle of God.

Our country has lost its way. Over half the people that vote, voted for a government that promises them things it cannot deliver in return for their souls which it can, will and does take. Our foreign policy backs the rise of Islam, we turn our backs on those who would follow God and arm those who murder them. Pray God will raise up a leader from among the people who can turn the country’s course 180° and attempt to come back to God. Pray the people will recognize that they are headed down a smooth wide road into the pit, a road that will get smoother and smoother, steeper and steeper until the only possible way is down. Down, into the depths of the pit. Pray people will recognize there is:

• One True and Triune God who is goodness in and of Himself;
• All religions are not equal;
• All ways of life are not equal;
• The Bible holds the Key to Life;
• All rights come from God, not the State;
• Good;
• Bad;
• Evil;
• Right;
• Wrong;
• Allah is the Devil;
• Abortion is no more than sacrifice of children to Baal.

Pray this recognition will not come too late. Pray we will, each of us, do our duty to God, Country and Family, putting His Honor above all.

Persecuted
Around the world, Christians are under attack, not only in the Muslim world, but from Hindus and others in India. Also, they are under continual attack in the name of Separation of Church and State in the western world, as it becomes actively atheist or pro-devil buddy. Please pray for God’s guidance and protection for all persecuted Christians and those around them.
